Suggestions of lesser known shows please-aside from the bread and butter shows...
Preferably 80-82, just not the standards

My problem is that I don't know which are the standards and which aren't. These shows are in heavy rotation on my ipod

12/20/79
12/21/79
02/26/80
02/28/80 Kean
02/29/80
03/01/80 Capitol Theatre - most famous

then a big jump to
02/04/82
02/27/82

Here's the thing: I got a ton of listening copy JGB mp3's from some wonderful person on this board (sad to say I can't remember who at the moment - but thank you!) and I believe that I loaded all the soundboards from the period, but I haven't made time to go back and sort through the remaining mountain of auds.

Some lessor known shows from your time period:
2-12-80 (amazing!)
2-22-80
3-8-80 (everyone knows this show but since it wasn't mentioned...)
2-15-81
8-20-81 & 8/21/81
11/4/81 (a personal favorite) and just about every show from November of 1981 is great
11/6/82
I also wouldn't pass up the many gems from 1983 & 1984.

I listen to these from 1980:

2/19/80
Syracuse
Set 1 -
Sugaree
That's What Love Will Make You Do
Catfish John
Simple Twist Of Fate
They Love Each Other
That's All Right, Mama

- Set 2 -
I'll Take A Melody
How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)
Harder They Come
Russian Lullaby
Midnight Moonlight
- Encore -
When I Paint My Masterpiece

7/27/80
Albany

- Set 1 -
When I Paint My Masterpiece
Sitting In Limbo
Deal
Simple Twist Of Fate
Tangled Up In Blue

- Set 2 -
Mission In The Rain
How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)
I'll Take A Melody
Russian Lullaby >
Midnight Moonlight
- Encore -
Sugaree

I am focused on the Dylan covers at the moment, particularly "Masterpiece" ... Dylan + Garcia = double dose of genius.

I just listened to Tough Mama from 8-20-81. Damn, why did they stop playing this?

Tangled up in Blue from 2-4-81 is nice (so many great versions of this song)

As much as I like those 1980 shows I think I prefer 1981-1983 because of Roadrunner, Valerie, Tough Mama, It's No Use and probably a few others that don't come to mind (and I almost forgot no Ozzie).

I love Tough Mama too. According to the jerrysite, they played it 49 times from Aug 31, 1974 to Nov 12, 1990, here is the list:

Left off in late '82 and brought it back in 1990.

I love the girls, but I love the four and five piece JGB's even more - 1980 is probably my favorite year. The obvious choices are 3/01/1980 (available all over the place - including youtube) and the Kean College official release.

For a truly pristine recording, check out 11/26/1988. Also any early 1978 dates that have Donnajeanne and Maria Muldaur as the back-up singers. March 18 and 19 are pretty famous and also circulate all over the place.

It's hard to go wrong with anything from February or March of 1980. Sometimes I'd rather hear the '76-'78 sound, which is not quite so brash, but I'm into '80 at the moment.

Anyone know what the date was for the JGB Orpheum show in Boston, Feb. 80?
